Nine Forsyth County athletes have been named to the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association’s all-state softball team from Class 7A, including two on who received first-team honors, according to sources.
South Forsyth catcher Bianca Mora and Lambert designated hitter Marissa Guimbarda earned top honors.
Mora, a senior signed with Georgia Tech, hit .341 (29-for-85) with eight doubles, two home runs and 16 RBI this past season, while also holding strong command behind the plate as the Lady War Eagles advanced to Columbus for the second year in a row.
Guimbarda, a senior and signed with Furman University in Greenville, S.C., was a force at the plate in a breakout season—she hit .559 with seven doubles, a triple and a staggering 18 home runs through 30 games, helping Lambert to the GHSA Softball Championships for the first time in school history. Guimbarda was also recently named the FCN’s County Player of the Year.
Lambert’s starting ace, Kassidy Krupit, was named to the GACA second team along with South shortstop Emily Harris and utility player Sarah Womack. Krupit was named the FCN’s Pitcher of the Year after compiling a 15-2 record with a 0.84 ERA; Harris and Womack signed with Young Harris College and Kennesaw State, respectively.
South pitcher Katherine Huey (signed with Duke), West catcher Alana Frye (Kennesaw State), Lambert freshman infielder Brooke Miller and West shortstop Bailley Concatto (SIU-Edwardsville) all were named to the third team.
Miller was the only non-senior from Forsyth County to make the team.
