North Forsyth locked up the top seed in the Region 8-6A tournament, along with earning hosting duties, after a sweep of Habersham Central and Shiloh Tuesday in Gwinnett County.
The Raiders improved to 10-0 in the region, meaning that even if they inexplicably dropped their final two league matches Oct. 4, they would still earn the top spot due to having beaten second-place Jackson County (10-2 in region) twice.
In securing the regular-season crown, North Forsyth downed Habersham Central 25-14, 25-22 and strolled past Shiloh, winning both sets by 25-10 margins.
Now 32-4 overall this year, the Raiders will take part this weekend in the GVCA Invitational at Providence Christian in Lilburn.
East Forsyth wins pair in Hall County
East Forsyth closed out its regular season on a high note, sweeping past Cedar Shoals and East Hall in a tri-match Tuesday in Hall County.
While all three programs are members of Area 8-4A, the Broncos' 25-3, 25-18 rout of the Jaguars didn't count in the standings, as the teams had already faced off once prior.
However, East Forsyth's hard-fought 25-21, 25-22 triumph against the host Vikings did represent an area match and moved the Broncos to 4-5 in the league.
Next up for East Forsyth will be the area tournament. At the conclusion of Tuesday's matches, the Broncos (17-21 overall) sat sixth in the area standings, per MaxPreps.
