WEEKEND RECAP: West Forsyth wrestling impresses at Sonoraville Invitational

Denver Stonecheck and Hunter Jolly won their respective weight classes to help West Forsyth wrestling place take second at the Sonoraville Invitational on Saturday.

Stonecheck defeated Creekview’s Ryan Camp 9-2 in the final at 145 pounds. Jolly went a perfect 4-0 on the day at 285 with all wins coming by pin.

Kaleb Sherman (170) placed second, while Jack Woodall (126), Will Shirley (132) and Troy Crawford (138) each placed third.

Lambert at Husky Invitational

CHARLOTTE – Matthew Sheetz took first place in his weight class as the Longhorns finished fourth at the Husky Invitational Tournament in Charlotte this past Saturday.

Sheetz was also named Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.

Eric Diemert, Payton Mitchell, Daniel Morin and Robbie Powell each placed second, Ethan Young placed third and Chris Kratzer, Kyle Maitz, Brett Malinowski and Michael Miller each placed fourth.

North Forsyth at Buccaneer Duals

ACWORTH – Freshman Paul Watkins went 4-0 as the Raiders finished fourth at the Buccaneer Duals on Saturday at Allatoona High School.

North defeated Etowah (50-18), McEachern (62-18) and host Allatoona (42-40) with a last-match pin by Cole Tenety and lost to Gilmer (36-31) and Archer (62-15).

The Raiders also got strong performances from Hunter Loyd (3-0), Andrew Leggett (2-0), Tenety (3-1), Connor Carroll (3-1), Spencer Dooley (2-1) and Brantley Little (2-1).
