West Forsyth boys, Central's Walker highlight local golfers reaching state

Forsyth County golfers came through in the sectionals Monday.

Among the highlights was West Forsyth’s boys team qualifying for the state tournament for the first time in school history. The Wolverines had a score of 320, led by Robert Shaw’s even-par 71 to finish second overall.

Dru Adams and Mason Jones each shot an 82, while Drew Ridings shot 85 to lead West to the Class AAAAAA championship May 19 at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Evans, Georgia.

Joining West will be Lambert’s boys’ team. The Longhorns also qualified for the state championship thanks in part to Campbell Fisher and Jake Fendt shooting a 76 and 75, respectively.

On the girls’ side, a pair of individuals made it through sectionals.

West Forsyth senior Isabella Skinner, a Georgia signee, shot a 73 to qualify for the girls’ Class AAAAAA championship May 19 at Gordon Lakes Golf Club in Fort Gordon, Georgia.
