Peachtree Ridge at South Forsyth

When, where: Wednesday, 5 and 7 p.m.; Thursday, 6 p.m. (if necessary) at South Forsyth High School in Cumming.

Records, rankings, seedings: Peachtree Ridge is 7-18, the No. 4 seed from Region 7-AAAAAA and unranked; South Forsyth is 21-3, the No. 1 seed from Region 6 and ranked No. 9.

What to know: The Lady Lions enter the Class AAAAAA playoffs as one of two teams in the bracket with a losing region record. Their task won’t be easy against South, whose only loss in region play this year came against Lambert. It should be noted one of South’s out-of-region losses came against a Region 7 team in Mill Creek.

Purdue commit Katherine Huey is dominant when she’s in control of her pitches, and has managed well this season when her stuff hasn’t been up to par. The South offense is dominant all the way through the lineup, boasting home run power in catcher Bianca Mora, as well as arguably the best offensive player in the region with sophomore Jordyn Harris.

Who’s next: The winner will play the Newnan-Newton winner.
