Johns Creek at West Forsyth
When, where: Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Wolverine Stadium in Cumming.
Records, rankings: Johns Creek is 4-5, 4-4 in Region 6-AAAAAA and unranked; West is 6-3, 6-2 and unranked.
Series history: West leads 3-0.
Last meeting: West won 34-3 in 2014.
What to know: This game has playoff implications for both teams. West is safe in the playoffs, but a win and a South loss will decide whether or not the Wolverines open the postseason at home or on the road. Luckily, West cannot fall past the No. 3 seed because of a tie-breaker it owns over Centennial, but if South wins and Mill Creek loses to Peachtree Ridge, West would have to visit Mill Creek—the same team that beat them 51-13 to open the season.
If Johns Creek wins and Northview beats Centennial, those three teams will fall into a three-way tie to decide the final playoff spot. Johns Creek has scored just nine points in its last two games, while the Wolverines have scored 31 in their last two.
Either way the ball rolls Friday, Adam Clack has already clinched his first playoff appearance since taking over as the head coach at West in 2014, following the program’s first head coach, Frank Hepler. A win would also give Clack a career-best seven wins. Last season West finished 6-4 and missed the playoffs.
