Both teams are coming off markedly different season-openers. West hung with then No. 7-ranked Mill Creek for a half but no longer in an eventual 51-13 loss. The Wolverines scored twice in the second quarter – a 1-yard run by Grant Torgerson and a 69-yard catch by Garrett Broxson from Kiernen Hamilton – but West was held to just 92 yards in the second half.
