West Forsyth’s Sam Turk will play softball for (Div. II) Young Harris College next season.
Turk immediately knew Young Harris was where she wanted to attend school when she saw the campus layout and met her teammates.
"It’s absolutely gorgeous," Turk said. "I knew it was the perfect fit for me. I got to meet the coach and my teammates and it was just great."
Turk was only able to play half of the Wolverines’ 2012 season due to an injury, but she posted a .435 batting average for her travel club. The senior has weekly batting lessons and practices as often as possible, knowing she will play in left field or center field.
"I’m trying to fine-tune everything," Turk said. "Just trying to work and get better.
"My parents were extremely excited about [Young Harris]. They fell in love with it, too. I’m not too far away and they can come see me and watch some of my games."
Turk plans to major in early childhood education.
