West Forsyth volleyball standout Haley Ashworth will play for (Div. II) Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville next season.

The senior was voted team captain and most valuable player by her teammates, while leading the Lady Wolverines in aces since her junior year. Ashworth currently plays for ProLink Atlanta Volleyball, a travel club.

"It’s a great place," Ashworth said of GCSU. "It’s a cute little school with a great reputation. I really liked the coach and that’s one of the main reasons I chose it. Some of my friends go there, too.

"My family has made a lot of sacrifices for me. They’ve been there to support me, so they were happy with my decision."

Ashworth will be a part of the inaugural women’s volleyball team at GCSU next season. Since freshmen will make up most of the team, she wants to be a leader. She will meet some of her future teammates in January.

"We’ll have a young team, so we’ll be the ones setting the goals," Ashworth said. "I’m going to try to be a leader."
