Lambert finished runner-up at its Lambert Clash tournament Saturday on the strength of seven wrestlers placing in the top six of their respective weight classes.
The Longhorns had 228 team points to finish behind tournament champion Greater Atlanta Christian (278). North Hall (222), Grayson (198) and South Forsyth (166.5) rounded out the top 5 from a field of 19 teams that participated in the two-day event.

Other top performers for the Longhorns were Eric Diemert (106, third), Jack Rains (120, fifth), Joey Salgado (170, third) and Logan Wood (195, third).
South had five wrestlers place in their respective weight classes. Felipe Hayes (138), Daniel Rech (145) and Bryan Troye (160) each placed third. Julian Escobedo placed fifth at 285, and Brennan McCrum finished sixth at 152.
Lambert and South return to action Friday at the Area 6-AAAAAA duals hosted by the Longhorns.
North travels to Louisiana: The Raiders finished in sixth place at the 2013 Deep South Bayou Duals this weekend in Baton Rouge, La. The tournament, which included 40 teams from eight states across the U.S., featured some of the best high school wrestling programs in the Southeast and Midwest regions.
North emerged as the winner of Pool F, beating Jesuit ‘B’ (60-18), Lafayette (52-21), El Dorado (54-15) and Live Oak (51-27).
In the quarterfinal, the Raiders took down Platte County in a tightly contested dual, 36-32. John Papineau’s 11-4 triumph at 126 pounds was arguably the most significant victory over Platte, propelling North to the semifinal round.
However, after winning their first five meets of the tournament, the Raiders dropped their last three. Jefferson won handily over North in the semis, 50-16. Austin Thornton (195), Julian Benton (138), Chad Warner (152) and Keigan Radake (182) were the only North wrestlers to win their weight classes.
This defeat sent North to the consolation semifinal, which it lost to Gilmer, 38-29. The Raiders then fell to Jesuit High School in the fifth-place match, 44-27.
