CUMMING — A two-vehicle collision on Valentine’s Day sent one person to an area hospital and disrupted traffic at a busy intersection in Cumming.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred about 7 p.m. Sunday at Market Place Boulevard and Buford Highway (Hwy. 20).

Epifanio Rodriguez, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said a Nissan Sentra and Honda Ridgeland collided at the intersection, which is near Ga. 400 and serves as the entrance to the Market Place retail corridor.

The Honda, which was traveling west on Hwy. 20, reportedly turned left into the eastbound Sentra at the crossing.

The 38-year-old male driver of the Sentra was taken to North Fulton Hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries, Rodriguez said.

The three passengers in the vehicle were not hurt.

The driver of a Honda, a 56-year-old man from Cumming, was cited for failure to yield, Rodriguez said.

The intersection, which has had its share of wrecks in recent years, was partially closed for about 45 minutes.
