It was a challenging night on the diamond for Forsyth County's high school baseball teams as all three were eliminated from the postseason by dropping doubleheaders Friday.

* South Forsyth at Lassiter

Lassiter knocked out South Forsyth, the 2009 state Class AAAAA runners-up, by taking both games, 15-7 and 13-7.

The teams were tied at 3-3 and 6-6 in the nightcap before Lassiter pulled away to finish off South.

In the opener, the War Eagles fell behind 9-0 before Zack Alvord opened their scoring with a two-run home run.

* Lambert at Carrollton

The visiting Longhorns dropped two games to Carrollton, 12-6 and 7-6 in eight innings, to bow out of the Class AAA playoffs.

Lambert was up 6-3 late in the second game until the Trojans tied it on a three-run home run to force extra innings. A balk accounted for the winning run.

The first-year Longhorns trailed 7-2 in the second inning of the first game, and could never draw closer than two runs the rest of the way.

* Forsyth Central at Hillgrove

Hillgrove swept Forsyth Central, 11-0 and 9-3, in Powder Springs to advance to the second round of the state Class AAAA playoffs.

Central led the nightcap 3-1, but Hillgrove rallied to take the lead in the fourth inning.

The Bulldogs lost the opener 11-0 in five innings as Hillgrove hit three home runs and turned three double plays.
