CUMMING — Motorists are asked to avoid the area of Pilgrim Mill Road and Magnolia Avenue, just east of Cumming and Ga. 400 and near Lake Lanier, as crews work to free a large tractor trailer that got stuck while hauling heavy equipment.

Crews are waiting for a heavy-duty wrecker to help remove the truck, which reportedly bottomed out about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday as it attempted a turn onto Magnolia, according to Epifanio Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

The truck is hauling a massive generator, he said.

Rodriguez said there is no estimate of how long the road will be blocked and that it depends on whether the wrecker can pull it back onto the road.

“If [the wrecker] can’t,” he said, “they’re going to have to go to other measures to get it out.”
