CUMMING — Northside Hospital-Forsyth will hold its annual tree-lighting to honor those fighting cancer on Friday night.

Set for 6 to 8 p.m. at the hospital off Ronald Reagan Boulevard, the Celebration of Lights will also feature entertainment from several local dance companies and choral groups from Forsyth County Schools.

Food, children’s activities, photos with Santa and other festivities will also take place.

Since 1989, the Northside Hospital Foundation has honored those affected by cancer with tree lightings at its Cumming, Alpharetta and Atlanta campuses.

According to a news release from the foundation, lights on the trees at the three hospitals — 48,000 in total — can be purchased in honor or memory of those who have battled cancer.

During the finale at each site, a Northside cancer patient will light the 60-foot tree.

According to the foundation, the celebrations have raised nearly $550,000 for Northside’s Cancer Institute.

Lights on the tree can be purchased through Dec. 31 online at https://give.northside.com/lights and more information can be found at http://www.marketplacechristmas.com/Festival/celebration-of-lights.html.
