A local car dealership is offering a line of new services.

Billy Howell Ford recently opened its new Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center at the Collision Center on Canton Highway.

“This is a fast service center specializing in brakes, tires, batteries and oil changes,” company vice president Bill Howell said. “Basically it’s similar to your quick lube places, but we can also do a lot more.”

Like the name implies, Howell said, Quick Lane is “geared for speed.”

“People can get in and out a lot faster and all of the equipment is state-of-the-art,” he said.

While a franchise of the Ford Co., Quick Lane is open to all makes and models, Howell said. It has about 400 locations nationwide.

“About 50 percent of business so far has been imports,” he said, noting that Quick Lane has been open for about three weeks. “We’ve been pleased with the mix of Ford versus non-Fords.”

Manager Mark Wilson said Quick Lane’s equipment speeds up the process of maintenance work.

For example, he said, Quick Lane’s alignment equipment allows what used to take “25 to 30 minutes” to be completed in “about five minutes.”

Wilson said a feature of the new center is a Road Force tire balancing machine.

“As far as I know, we’re the only [center] anywhere around here to have that,” he said.

The machine uses an additional component that simulates actual driving conditions.

“That drops in on the tire, so it’s a lot more accurate than your standard balancing,” he said.

Besides standard procedures like alignments, oil changes and brake checks, the facility also offers more specialized work.

“It’s a lot more than just your basics,” Wilson said. “We can also do suspension work and diesel work.”

Additionally, Wilson said, Quick Lane can handle high-speed tire work for vehicles like Corvettes.

The center has three technicians with a variety of experience, he said.

“I’ve got a Ford guy, a Chevy guy and a Dodge guy, but they can handle work on any kind of car,” he said. “We’ve even done work on some Mercedes.”

Wilson said the facility’s prices are competitive.

“An oil change and tire rotation is $24.94, and we can meet or beat any tire price,” he said.

“We pride ourselves on the work we’re able to do here.”
