A local gun club is inviting the public to the range Saturday for a special fundraising event.

Bulls Eye Marksman Gun Club, 6190 Parkway North Drive, will serve as a host site for National Take Your Daughter to the Range Day.

All proceeds from the event, which is set for noon to 4 p.m., will go to Stick It 2 Cancer, a local organization of business people that raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Besides a chance for fathers to teacher their daughters (and sons) more about proper safety while shooting, the event will feature door prizes, refreshments, goody bags and raffles.

Liza Kirby, a spokeswoman for Bulls Eye Marksman, said in a statement that Father’s Day weekend is “the perfect time to get out with the family and especially to introduce kids to the fun of target shooting with dad.”

“Bulls Eye … is a very family-friendly range and we especially encourage women and children to learn and understand firearm safety in a safe environment.”
