The Forsyth County News won nine awards for advertising excellence, including four first-place honors, at the recent Georgia Press Association advertising conference.

In the GPA competition, the Forsyth County News competes in Division C against newspapers up to 15,000 circulation. All entries in the GPA contest were published during the 2008 calendar year.

The ads must have been conceived, written, designed and sold by newspaper staff members. Ads created by advertising agencies were not permitted.

“This is a credit to both our advertising sales and creative staff working together for the benefit of the advertiser,” said publisher John Hall. “I’m very proud of this team.”

Among the awards for which the newspaper received first place were:

• Slender Life Weight Loss & Body Wraps
• The Inside Out
• City of Cumming
• Progress 2008 section
