A local restaurant will serve both humans and canines during a special event this weekend.

The Ridge Great Steaks & Seafood, 1035 Turner Road, is holding “Pooches on the Patio” from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

The event is a fundraiser for the Humane Society of Forsyth County, which includes the county’s only no-kill animal shelter and a number of other programs to help local pets and their owners.

Pooches on the Patio will give dog lovers the opportunity to bring their four-legged friends to dinner with them.

All dogs must be on a leash and good with other dogs. Owners are also encouraged to “dress their pets for fun” as activities will be available for the pooches’ participation.

Cost to attend the event is a $5 cover charge per person, which will go to the Humane Society. In addition, 10 percent of all food sales and $1 from each beverage sale will go to the organization.

A fun drink menu has been created for the event that includes selections such as the Salty Dog, Chihuahua Cosmo, Lazy Labrador and Poodle Palmer.

The cover charge may be paid at the door or in advance at the Humane Society Thrift Store, 168 Tri County Plaza, or Lance’s Jewelry, 1705 Market Place Blvd.
