CUMMING — Belk leaders are looking for nonprofits and other organizations in need of funds to take part in the retailer’s spring charity sale from 6 to 10 a.m. May 3.
Through the program, charities can sign up to sell $5 admission tickets to the event.
“This is a great way for any nonprofit to make money,” said Leslie Andert, sales team leader of women’s apparel. “We have some charities that come back time after time because it works so well for them.”
All the nonprofits that take part get to retain 100 percent of the $5 ticket cost on all tickets they sell. In addition, all revenue from tickets sold in-store will be divided equally among them.
In return for purchasing a $5 ticket, customers get great buys on rarely discounted merchandise and other items throughout the store. They also receive a $5 credit on their Charity Sale purchases, completely offsetting the cost of the ticket.
The first 100 customers in each store on the morning of the sale will also receive free Belk gift cards, ranging in value from $5 to $100. There will also be a chance to win one of three $1,000 Belk cards awarded companywide.
Andert said everything from pet organizations to school groups and churches take advantage of the Charity Sale, which is held every fall and spring.
“Some groups take 50 tickets to sell, while others take thousands,” she said. “That’s another great thing about this sale, the charities have control over how much they want to do with it.”
The Belk Fall 2013 Charity Sale raised more than $5 million for nearly 8,000 schools and community nonprofits organizations throughout the retailer’s entire market.
