Central Park playground temporarily closing for work
Central Park Playground

Starting Monday, the playground at Central Park will be closed temporarily for resurfacing.

The surface of the playground is being switched from mulch to a rubberized material currently in place on playgrounds at several other county parks, according to the county. The playground is expected to re-open by Monday, Aug. 28.

The project will cost and about $168,000, and work is being done by Bliss Products and Services.

Funding for the project came from a $100 million Parks, Recreation and Green Space Bond approved by voters in 2008.

New equipment was added to the playground in 2015.
Central Park is located at 2300 Keith Bridge Road and offers athletic fields, tennis courts, a recreation center and other amenities.
