$400K in heroin seized after search of home

LULA — Officers seized $400,000 in heroin and three firearms after searching a Lula home on Wednesday.

The search led to the arrest of Antonio Arellano Torres, 49, of Lula, who is charged with trafficking heroin, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute and three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

The Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad, Homeland Security and the Hall County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team were involved in the search.

During the search of the Whitehall Road residence, agents found 1 kilogram of heroin, two 9 mm pistols and one .22 caliber rifle.

Investigators estimate the street value of the heroin seized to be $400,000.

Torres is being held at the Hall County Detention Center.
