A woman accused of drinking and driving in connection with a fatal wreck earlier this month is in custody, authorities said.
Robyn Lee Riner, 50, of Alpharetta has been charged with vehicular homicide, serious injury by vehicle, failure to maintain lane and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Karleen Chalker, Forsyth County Sheriff’s spokeswoman, said Riner turned herself in at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Riner remained Friday at the Forsyth County Detention Center on a $22,220 bond.
The wreck happened June 11 on Castleberry Road between Fenwick Drive and the Creekside subdivision. Riner reportedly was traveling north on Castleberry when her 2001 Ford Mustang veered off the shoulder. She overcorrected, crossed the centerline and struck head-on a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 81-year-old Donald Schultz.
Riner, along with Schultz and his wife, Barbara, were taken to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell. Donald Schultz died at the hospital June 13.
Chalker said Barbara Schultz remained hospitalized Friday and was being treated for several injuries.
