Hundreds of pounds of methamphetamine and nearly $350,000 in cash were seized over the weekend after the Drug Enforcement Agency and various local law enforcement offices performed a series of raid operations at residences throughout the metro Atlanta area, including Forsyth County.
In Forsyth County, DEA officials say that local resident Eduardo Lopez was arrested on Saturday, Feb. 2, after eight pounds of methamphetamine were found during a warranted search of two residences at 3775 and 3747 Atlanta Highway in south Forsyth near Fowler Park.
Other raids took place in Fulton, DeKalb, Clayton, Henry and Gwinnett counties, according to a press release.
In Milton, law enforcement officers seized 200 pounds of liquid methamphetamine and 100 pounds of “finished crystal methamphetamine” from a “conversion lab.” In total they say that the drugs found at this location are worth approximately $1.2 million on the street.
At an alleged stash house in Ellenwood, authorities seized 150 pounds of crystal meth worth approximately $600,000, according to a press release.
Two other raids in Stockbridge and Morrow yielded arrests and seizures of approximately $350,000 in cash.
Authorities arrested six men during the course of this operation, including Lopez, and said that four of the suspects are Mexican nationals in the country illegally.
According to the release, Jorge Mendoza Perez, Santana Cardenas and Victor Manuel Sanchez were arrested during the search of 2170 Mountain Road in Milton. Fredy Pacheco was arrested during the search of 112 Meadow Ridge Court in Stockbridge and Carlos Martinez was arrested at 2510 Bonita Court in Morrow.
Authorities have not yet commented on what charges have been taken out against these suspects.
