Gainesville man charged in home invasion, assault

A Gainesville man is charged with entering an apartment and pointing a gun at four people, police said.

Emmanuel Antonio Gonzalez-Fuerte, 19, was charged with home invasion and aggravated assault following an alleged incident Aug. 14 at Lake Lanier Club Apartments in Gainesville. He was booked in to the Hall County Jail on Saturday, where he remains.

Gainesville police officers responded to the apartments on Canterbury Road off of Dawsonville Highway.

According to the warrants, Gonzalez-Fuerte allegedly forced his way into the residence and pointed the pistol at four people, including children of ages 4 and 10 months.

Police charged the Gainesville man with aggravated assault by allegedly “pointing the handgun at the them, placing them in fear of receiving an immediate serious bodily injury,” according to the warrants.

“The suspect was known to the individuals inside the residence,” Gainesville Cpl. Jessica Van wrote in an email.

Van did not disclose the nature of the relationship for the four people inside the home or the relationship of the victims to the suspect.

Police are “still actively investigating and piecing everything together,” Van said.

Police executed warrants for Gonzalez-Fuerte on Saturday. He was additionally charged with third-degree child cruelty, first-degree burglary and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
