A truck driver involved in a fatal wreck on Ga. 400 in September has been charged with homicide by vehicle.
Gonzalo Antonio Jimenez, 43, was arrested Monday for vehicular homicide, speeding, driving too fast for conditions and failure to maintain lane.
Jimenez was driving a cement truck on Ga. 400 north on Sept. 10 when he struck another vehicle about 12:45 p.m. near the intersection with Bottoms Road.
The car’s driver, 82-year-old Rose Marie Robertson, was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where she succumbed to her injuries later that week.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office delayed the arrest of Jimenez to allow time to reconstruct the accident, said spokesman Doug Rainwater.
The result of that investigation led to the charges on Jimenez, who is from Sugar Hill.
“We determined that he had enough time to stop,” Rainwater said, “but for whatever reason, he struck the car.”
Jimenez was released from the Forsyth County Detention Center later Monday after posting bond of $4,015, according to authorities.
