Dawson Marketplace enters phase two of development

The Development Authority of Dawson County announced last week that three nationally recognized retail firms will be the main anchor stores for phase two of the Dawson Marketplace Power Center on Ga. 400.

The anchor stores will be Restoration Hardware, Burlington Coat Factory and Beall’s Outlet, according to a June 16 press release.

Restoration Hardware is expanding its presence in Dawson County following its long success at the North Georgia Premium Outlets.

A need for additional floor space while desiring to keep its Dawson County location drove the move to the Dawson Marketplace, according to Charlie Auvermann, executive director of the authority.

“Restoration Hardware has only two locations in Metro-Atlanta and we are very excited to see this national brand stay in our county,” Auvermann said.

The Corte Madera, Calif.-based home furnishing company has over 118 retail and outlet locations across the U.S. The other Metro-Atlanta store is located in Buckhead.

Burlington Coat Factory, based out of Burlington, N.J., will add a new Dawson location to its inventory of over 540 stores nationwide.

Burlington is a major off-price retailer specializing in coats, suits and sportswear.

The retailer has been bucking the sluggish trend in brick and mortar retail, posting over a 9 percent net sales increase in 2016, Auvermann said. The company’s net income rose 27 percent per as a result of their across the board sales performance.

The Dawson Marketplace will also be home to a new Beall’s Outlet, another welcome addition to the county. The new store will join over 450 Beall’s stores located across 17 states in the southeastern U.S.

The private family-owned retailer was established in 1915 and is located in Bradenton, Fla. The store specializes in southern lifestyle apparel that is very popular in the Metro-Atlanta area.

The store also offers an extensive line of men’s suits and casual wear, and Beall’s was named the menswear industry 2016 retailer of the year.

“All three of these stores provide a solid anchor for the phase two expansion of the Dawson Marketplace. We welcome them to Dawson County and our region,” Auvermann said.

Also slated to open in the Marketplace shopping center are Tuesday Morning, Kirkland’s, Home Goods, Mint Dental, United Community Bank, Supercuts, Signature Nails & Spa, Verizon, Wendy’s, Starbuck’s, MOD Pizza, Taco Bell, Marco’s Pizza and Senor Fiesta Mexican Restaurant.
