Fire destroyed a north Forsyth home Thursday night, displacing the family that lived there and taking the lives of their pets.Forsyth County Fire Capt. Jason Shivers said the department responded about 11:15 p.m. to a fire at 4570 Sloan Ridge in the Green Summers subdivision. He said the home was "heavily involved in fire" when firefighters got there, with flames burning up the back of the house and in the attic. The residents of the house had escaped and are staying with family, Shivers said, but their two dogs were in the basement and died from smoke inhalation."The damage to the home is going to be a total loss," Shivers said. "A few valuables were salvaged."Shivers said the cause of the blaze remains under investigation, though officials do not suspect foul play.
