Scout-led volunteers cleaning up old cemetery in northwest Forsyth

NORTHWEST FORSYTH — Volunteers have been spending Saturdays this month cleaning up an old cemetery off Heardsville Road in northwestern Forsyth County.

In the photos above, Ken Cappon uses a battery-powered saw to trim branches in the overgrown cemetery, while Austin Reynolds hands branches to Lamar Baily.

Reynolds organized the cleanup as an Eagle Scout project. Baily donated the trailer used to haul away the cuttings.

The volunteers say they expect to spend at least a couple of more weekends working in the cemetery.
