WEST FORSYTH — Forsyth County plans to move forward with the condemnation of seven tracts, totaling less than an acre, that are needed for the widening of Bethelview Road.
The Forsyth commission voted 5-0 recently to approve condemning the property after the owners couldn’t agree with the county on a set amount.
“These are only situations where the county was unable to reach a settlement with the property owners,” said County Attorney Ken Jarrard.
According to Jarrard, the tracts are needed for the “Bethelview phase two project, which is a major road widening of Bethelview from [Hwy.] 20 to Castleberry [Road] for a distance of 4.9 miles.”
Jarrard added that officials may still be able to reach a deal with two of the property owners.
