Residents are invited to learn more about the widening and restructuring of Sharon Road during an open house Monday.

The county’s engineering department will provide information on the project, which will improve Sharon Road from Hwy. 141 to Old Atlanta Road.

Plans call for expanding Sharon from two to four lanes, including turn lanes. Other improvements include a 20-foot raised grass or concrete median, curbs and gutters and 5-foot sidewalks on both sides.

In an effort to minimize the impact to property, the widening will vary in locations along the corridor.

Intersections along the route will also be improved, including turn lanes and realignments.

The open house is set for 5 to 7 p.m. at South Forsyth Middle School, 2865 Old Atlanta Road.
