A large-scale development for a high-end car storage complex has cleared another hurdle to becoming a reality.
Per a news release, Destination Development Partners and The Good Group have submitted plans for review to county planning officials for Stables Motor Condos and Retail Village, “Atlanta’s first private garage suites designed for car collectors and motorsports enthusiasts.”
The development is being built on 28.5 acres with “an area of disturbance of about 19.51 acres” on McFarland Parkway and will include 150 private garage suites inside a gated community and 40,000 square feet of multi-tenant space.
The development will include a restaurant with a rooftop bar, a coffee shop, a distillery with a tasting room, an event venue, 6.5 acres of nature preserve with walking trails and kids play area and a park dedicated to the original family on the land.
The development will also have a number of auto-based elements, including a warehouse facility for collector car storage, a car wash, a boutique car dealership and car customization shops.
The release said “the new retail village will attract leading brands alongside space for local and pop-up businesses and concept stores to test consumer appetite for the latest automotive enthusiast trends.”
In October 2017, Forsyth County Commissioners voted to rezone 16.7 acres of land from agriculture district (A1) to industrial district (M1) and nine acres from A1 to community business district (CBD) for the development.
The county’s development authority also approved a bond resolution for the property in late 2017.
Previously, Jeff Beal, with developers Destination Development Partners, said of the 3,500 registered cars north of Atlanta worth more than $125,000, 1,700 are within five miles of the site, making the area a smart place for the project. The property will be gated and guarded.
