The Sawnee-Cumming Optimist Club contributed $4,000 to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in Forsyth County that was collected during the club’s 2017 charity golf tournament at the Hampton Golf Village.

Proceeds from the tournament will also go toward the club’s community programs for children.

“This generous donation will support our Aflac patients who are fighting big battles against cancer and blood disorders,” said Laurie Cole, community development officer at CHOA.

A new feature at the tournament this year was a match within the tournament among local car dealers called “car wars.”

“They competed for a plaque that winners can display in their showroom until next year’s tournament,” said Brenda Basey, tournament committee chair. “Bill Howell Ford edged out Andean Chevrolet this year.”
