Local musician Tim Hamby said there’s something special about performing at the Cumming Country Fair & Festival.

“The fair brings out the best in everybody,” Hamby said.

He and fellow members of gospel band Silver City are scheduled to play at the fairgrounds arena at 7 p.m. tonight, followed by Christian band Downhere.

Hamby, one of Silver City’s vocalists, said the band is pumped about tonight’s gig.

“It’s always a good crowd at the fair,” he said. “... You got a nice, big audience and spirits are real high.”

Hamby said the band has been busy. Tonight is also the release party for its new album called “Hero.”

“We’ll be playing a lot of new songs Wednesday night,” he said.

The band will also perform the national anthem Friday night before Ray Price’s performance at the fair.

Hamby described Silver City’s music as Christian country.

“Anybody that loves good country music would absolutely love our music,” he said.

Also, the band will perform during the Mountain Moonshine Festival on Oct. 25 in Dawsonville.
