BUFORD — A Lanier Islands Parkway storage facility and the 16 boats, RVs and other vehicles inside caught fire Monday afternoon.

The blaze sent towering columns of smoke, which were visible from Forsyth County and the surrounding area, over Lake Lanier.

Hall County firefighters responded about 3:45 p.m. Monday to the 6000 block of Lanier Islands Parkway.

“The fire has been extinguished and crews are currently putting out hot spots,” Capt. Zach Brackett wrote in an email.

The cause of the fire and damage totals were unavailable.
