Authorities say that two drivers were rushed to local hospitals on Sunday night after a wreck that occurred on Post Road in Forsyth County.

According to Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Cpl. Jenny Belafi, at about 6:19 p.m. on Sunday, two vehicles collided at the intersection of Post Road and Pittman Road when a driver allegedly attempted to cross over Post Road into the Vickery subdivision.

A witness at the scene allegedly told deputies that the wreck occurred after the driver of a Toyota 4Runner traveling southbound on Pittman nosed into the intersection and was struck by a Hyundai Santa Fe that was traveling eastbound on Post Road and was reportedly blocked from view by another vehicle.

Belafi said that the Toyota rolled twice due to the force of the impact, coming to a stop at the entrance of the Vickery subdivision.

One of the drivers was reportedly entrapped during the wreck and had to be extricated. Both drivers were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries.

An initial investigation of the wreck has found the driver of the Toyota, a 17-year-old female, at fault in the wreck, Belafi said. That driver has been cited for failure to yield right of way, she said.
