Two people were hospitalized Wednesday after a sport utility vehicle overturned on Castleberry Road just north of Piney Grove Road.

It was not immediately clear what caused the single-vehicle wreck, which occurred about 5:30 p.m., but the Jeep overturned at least once before landing upside down in a creek some 20 feet from the road.

One of those injured, identified only as a 12-year-old boy, was taken by ambulance to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, according to Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Kevin Wallace.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to free the female driver of the upside-down Jeep.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was then flown to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, according to Forsyth County Sheriff’s Maj. Rick Doyle.

Neither her condition, nor that of the child, could be determined Thursday.

The Georgia State Patrol, which is handling the investigation, has not completed its report.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident, which shut down Castleberry southwest of Cumming for nearly an hour during the evening commute.
