NORTHWEST FORSYTH — A busy crossing in northwest Forsyth was closed twice in a 16-hour span earlier this week due to separate crashes involving tractor trailers.

Though no one was seriously injured in either incident, Matt Highway (Hwy. 369) was blocked at Old Federal and Mt. Tabor roads for a total of about 2.5 hours between Monday and Tuesday.

According to Forsyth County Sheriff’s Cpl. Robin Regan, the first incident occurred when an 18-wheeler landed in a ditch about 4:15 p.m. Monday.

The road was closed for a “short period of time” after the crash and was then shut down again from about 7 to 8:45 p.m. to further clear the area.

The semi was the only vehicle involved, and no one was injured.

Tuesday, two tractor trailers were involved in a collision in the same general area, blocking the road again from about 8:30 to 9:50 a.m.

One person was taken to an area hospital as a result of the second incident, Regan said, with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.
