Manufacturing is big business in Forsyth County, and several businesses are being recognized by a local economic group.
The Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce recently announced finalists for the annual Forsyth County Manufacturers of Distinction and Leadership (MODL) awards.
An award ceremony, which the chamber hosts with the South Forsyth Rotary Club, will be held Dec. 5 at the Forsyth Conference Center, 3410 Ronald Reagan Boulevard. Thomas Martin with GLOBALT Investments will serve as keynote speaker of the event.
Finalists for the awards are: American BOA, which manufactures metal products for industrial and automotive markets; Hansgrohe, a manufacturer of luxury bath and kitchen fixtures; LG-MRI, a manufacturer of digital outdoor LCD display solutions; and Scientific Games, a global producer of gaming and lottery products and Specialty Appliances, a digital orthodontic laboratory.
Additionally, one company will receive an environmental sustainability award. During the ceremony, three winners of an art design contest for Forsyth County Schools will be announced, as well as the manufacturing educator of the year.
Award winners in 2017 were Metcam Inc., Solvay Advanced Polymers and Siemens Industry Inc., which were then considered for state-level awards.
Metcam was named Georgia’s Small Manufacturer of the Year this April by Gov. Nathan Deal.
“For an inaugural event last year, we knocked it out of the park,” said Robert Long, vice president of economic development at the chamber, in a news release. “To have one of our winners go on to win at the state level was fantastic, and Metcam’s recognition was well-deserved.”
Tickets are $20 for chamber members and $40 for nonmembers and can be purchased at CummingForsythChamber.com or by calling (770) 887-6461.
