Letter: Declaration on National Emergency unnecessary
Letter

The president’s declaration of a National Emergency last week is a dangerous example of executive overreach. Do our Senators really support the president’s ability to appropriate money for whatever he wants whenever he wants it? That’s not democracy. There’s a reason we need a co-equal legislative branch. The time has long since come for Congress to re-establish its constitutionally authorized power and revoke [Donald] Trump’s declaration and define “emergency” for him and future presidents. This is much more important than a wall we don’t need.
