North Forsyth at South Forsyth

When, where: Friday, 7:30 pm, at War Eagle Stadium in Cumming.

Records, rankings: North Forsyth is 0-3 overall, 0-2 in Region 6-AAAAAA and unranked; South Forsyth is 2-1, 2-0 and unranked.

Series history: South leads 10-6.

Last meeting: North won 17-12 in 2013.

What to know: North’s win over South on the final Friday of last year’s regular season gave the Raiders a state playoff berth. This time around, North needs a win to avoid a 0-4 start that would damage their already-tenuous playoff hopes. The Raiders gained just 96 total yards of offense in last Friday’s loss to Northview and turned it over six times.

South, meanwhile, could start 3-0 in region play for the first time since 2003, when the War Eagles played in Region 6-AAAA. Offense has been the name of the game. Running back Tyler LaFlamme, an early Forsyth County offensive player of the year candidate, quarterback Matt White, Grant Umberger and receiver Jalen Camp are the main weapons in a South attack that has averaged 45.3 points per game this season. Northview found success last week against North by building a 14-0 first quarter lead; South would be wise to put points on the board early and often. The War Eagles are favored by nine points, according to the Georgia High School Football Daily’s Maxwell Projections.
