After a brief sojourn, David May has decided to return as West Forsyth girls’ basketball head coach, according to athletic director Brett Phipps. May had accepted the same position at Collins Hill High School in Gwinnett County in early March.
Instead, May will return to a Lady Wolverines program he’s helped transform into a consistent winner since taking the job in 2012. West has gone 47-34 with two straight state playoff appearances under May.
May met with players and sent an email to team parents Monday morning to announce his return.
Phipps said May cited family concerns as the main reason for his return. May has a daughter who will be a senior at West next season and a son who will be a junior.
“He just decided at the end of the day it was best for him and his family to stay here,” Phipps said. “He really likes West.”
