The Lady Wolverines were eliminated by North Hall in the first round of bracket play in the Forsyth Challenge on Saturday.

West (2-2) finished pool play in the morning with a 25-13, 20-25, 12-15 loss to Fellowship Christian and a 25-21, 27-25 win against Mountain View before losing 26-24, 18-25, 9-15 to North Hall.

West was led by Gabby Bachner (28 assists), Jaz Berry (18 kills, six aces), Shelby Lance (17 kills, five blocks), Jordan Leitch (29 assists, eight aces) and Chloe Tyler (30 digs).

"I think overall we played well," West coach Jake Dickey said. "We beat Mountain View, which was probably one of the better teams there. The two games we lost we lost in three sets, and even in those I think at times we played well but had little let-downs here and there."

Dickey said he hopes the Lady Wolverines would take some of the experience they got in the Forsyth Challenge into a busy next couple of weeks. West hosted a tri-match on Tuesday and hosts another tomorrow before participating in the Brookwood Play Day this Saturday.

The Lady Wolverines play their first area match Sept. 10.

"Just [need to work on] consistency and effort," Dickey said. "Keeping our focus throughout the whole game. We’ll be getting a lot more experience before [area] gets started."
