A south Forsyth dental office is offering free care to military personnel as part of Freedom Day USA on Sept. 12.

O’Rourke Family & Cosmetic Dentistry will provide dental exams and X-rays for any active duty or retired member of the U.S. military.

Freedom Day USA is a national movement started by a West Virginia dentist who wanted to give something back to the soldiers and sailors who have secured our nation’s freedom.

Businesses across the country have signed up to provide free goods and services to military personnel during the inaugural event.

“We thought this would be a great way to give something back to our local community,” said Amy B. Estey, office manager of the dental office.

Any local serviceman or woman who wants to take part in the O’Rourke event should contact the office at (770) 888-6285 by Sept. 9 to schedule an appointment.

Anyone taking part will be asked to show valid military identification.

O’Rourke Family Dentistry is at 757 Peachtree Pkwy., Suite 1. It is the practice of husband and wife team Stephanie and Sean O’Rourke, who met in dental school.

Estey said the O’Rourkes and the practice’s staff are excited about the event, which they plan to hold annually.

“We’ve left that entire day completely open,” she said. “We hope to fill it up with those who have served or are serving our country.

“We want to have a very busy day on Sept. 12.”
