State Sen. Jack Murphy of Cumming has been nominated to participate in the National Conference for State Legislators’ Symposium for Emerging Leaders.

During the event, set for Oct. 28-30 in Beaverton, Ore., legislators will participate in seminars, lectures and small-group discussions about paths and challenges to leadership.

Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle nominated Murphy, a Republican who represents District 27, to participate.

“It’s a privilege to be selected to join this exclusive training seminar to help me become a better leader for Forsyth County,” Murphy said.  “To be a good leader, your education never stops. Therefore, I look forward to learning from my peers and experts from across the nation.”

Among those scheduled to give presentations during the gathering are North Carolina Rep. Craig Horn, Massachusetts Rep. Jay Kaufman, State Legislative Leaders Foundation expert Thom Little and others.
