SOUTH FORSYTH – An armed robbery occurred about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Foothills Community Bank on Bethelview Road, according to officials with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

A silent alarm was triggered at the bank, which sits between Atlanta Highway (Hwy. 9) and Castleberry Road, according to Deputy Epifanio Rodriguez, a spokesman for the agency.

The suspect, described as a black male between 35 and 40 years of age, about six feet tall and weighing 200-220 pounds, reportedly entered the bank with a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money, Rodriguez said.

The man was also wearing a pantyhose mask, a white construction hard hat, a neon yellow shirt and sneakers.

A black 2006 Saturn VUE was recovered close to the bank, which Rodriguez said the suspect is thought to have used to flee the scene.

Investigators are processing the vehicle for evidence on the suspect, but his whereabouts are unknown, according to Rodriguez.

No one was injured in the incident, Rodriguez said, though the man did get away with an undisclosed amount of money from the bank’s register.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (770) 781-2222.
