A local business is offering a $2,500 cash reward for information that leads to whoever stole thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment earlier this month.

Forsyth Exterminating, 1107 Atlanta Hwy., was reportedly burglarized sometime overnight Dec. 6-7.

Employees arrived that morning to find several items missing. They included a Caterpillar 247B front loader, a heavy piece of machinery similar to a Bobcat, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office report.

Also missing were the Caterpillar’s trailer, a large generator and several pieces of lawn care and pest control equipment, the report states.

Business owner Julie Ramirez said the theft had to have been planned to take such a large piece of equipment because it would require a certain type of vehicle to tow it away.

Ramirez hopes someone has some information that could help the business recover its equipment and, more importantly, catch the thief or thieves operating in the area.

“There’s been a lot of theft going on here in the town that I’m aware of,” she said. “I do want to make sure that our community stays safe.”

Ramirez said nothing like this has happened before in the family-owned business’ 33 years. Security cameras have since been installed.

Anyone with information on the case should call the sheriff’s office at (770)781-2200 or (770) 781-3087 after business hours.
