Studio West Productions at West Forsyth High School will open its 2009 season Thursday with the Tony Award-winning musical comedy whodunit, “Curtains,” followed up with “Hush Little Celia Don’t Say a Word.”

“Curtains” is set in the 1959 backstage at Boston’s Colonial Theatre during the pre-Broadway tryout of a new musical. When the leading lady is murdered, a detective shows up but becomes part of the show.

“Hush Little Celia” tells the tale of a girl who doesn’t speak and the fellow student who tries to get close to her. The play is about love, psychology and what happens to children when they go unheard.

More than 80 West students are involved in the two productions.

Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with a matinee show at 3 p.m. Sunday.

West Forsyth High School is at 4155 Drew Road.
