Dahlonega girl, 7, in Netflix series ‘Ozark’ with Jason Bateman

Opal Littleton is making a name for herself in the film world.

The 7-year-old Dahlonega girl has a role in the first season of “Ozark,” a Netflix original series starring Jason Bateman that debuted Friday. Opal is also working with Clint Eastwood on “The 15:17 to Paris,” which he is directing and producing. But she’s not seeking out notoriety.

“Fame just isn’t what I want,” she said. “If (I) get famous, I can’t do all those autographs at one time. So why I want to act is I just want to meet people. And I enjoy acting.”

Some of the filming for “Ozark,” which has 10 episodes in its first season, took place in the Flowery Branch and Buford areas of Hall County.

In the show, “a Chicago-based financial adviser secretly relocates his family to the Missouri Ozarks when his dealings with a drug cartel go awry,” according to its IMDb description.

Bateman plays lead character Marty Byrde, and Opal plays the younger version of Charlotte, his daughter.

“I was in flashback,” Opal said about her role in the show.

She had fun filming the show, and she said she especially enjoyed one particular scene.

“The most fun part was jumping on a 6-foot-in-the-air trampoline getting sprayed by water in a bathing suit,” she said.

Opal’s mother, Heavenly Littleton, said it was actually about 13 feet in the air but was very safe.

“For the kids, they especially make it really safe,” Heavenly said.

Opal “just came out performing,” according to Heavenly.

“From the time that she could walk, we could not keep her still,” Heavenly said.

The Dahlonega girl was first picked up by an agent when she was 4 years old.

“We started looking for an agent early, but I just was afraid of getting with a scammer or somebody who wasn’t good,” Heavenly said. “I really had mixed feelings and concerns about what would happen to her as a child and being busy.”

But that didn’t stop the mother from supporting her daughter’s dream, and Opal eventually joined Atlanta Models & Talent.

“She is totally in her element when she is on a set,” Heavenly said. “It’s just who she is.”

Opal stays busy for a 7-year-old, spending most of her time acting or auditioning.

“Our biggest thing is having to go back and forth to Atlanta from Dahlonega for auditions,” Heavenly said. “Any time she gets an audition, it’s easily three hours round-trip just driving. And then she has coachings and acting classes that we go down there for.”

Opal has appeared in several television shows and films, including “The Ortega Show”  and “Back to One: First Position.”

But she also enjoys other activities of any typical 7-year-old, such as playing in the yard, fishing, swinging and playing in her creek.

And as for what she wants to do when she grows up, acting may be on the list, but so are some other things.

“I want to do multiple things,” Opal said. “Work at a taco truck. Go dinosaur digging. Although that would be hot. I’d have to have a fan for that.”

“She is wide-open,” Heavenly said of her daughter. “She’s smart, she’s beautiful (and) she’s very social and creative. She’s ready to take over the world.”
