Forsyth County’s Play at the Park Family Fun Festival returns Sunday to Fowler Park.
The popular event, in its 11th year, will take place from noon to 5 p.m.
The festival will feature a variety of family-friendly entertainment and activities including performances, inflatables, face painting, shopping market, community expo and food.
Organizer Laura Pate said the festival remains popular each year because “it offers a fun day for families to enjoy their community park.”
She added that the admission and many activities are free.
Some of the additions this year include booths from the local sheriff’s office and fire department, new shopping vendors and Big Thinkers Science Exploration performances, Pate said
Returning are the petting zoo, drumming workshops, tennis activities and clown and magic performances.
About 3,000 to 5,000 are expected to attend, she said, which is a big reason for the day of the week chosen.
“The festival is on Sunday so there is more parking available,” Pate said. “Saturdays are very busy with organized sports.”
The county parks department’s festival moved in 2011 from Central Park to Fowler, which had opened in February of that year.
It drew about 5,000 people last year.
