FORSYTH COUNTY — Families are invited to show their love for all moms in an upcoming fundraiser.

Abba House, a north Forsyth ministry that helps women going through physical, emotional or other trauma, has teamed up with the Forsyth County Family YMCA and Victory 91.5 radio station for this year’s “We Love Moms Run for Recovery.”

The fundraiser will be offered on Saturday along the Big Creek Greenway.

Runners can compete in 10K, 5K or 10-mile courses. There will also be a 1-mile run and Tot Trot for children.

Formerly a fundraiser for just Abba House, leaders said they wanted to combine the race with the YMCA since both organizations share similar missions to preserve healthy, flourishing families.

“By participating in this wonderful family event, you too will be contributing to the transformation of women, children and families,” said Heather James with Abba House.

Sarah Pedarre of the Forsyth County Family YMCA said Abba House was a perfect partner.

“Every day I am blessed with the people at the Forsyth Y, incredible members, staff and families,” she said. “By working with Abba House, our mission is coming to life and its impact is instantaneous.”

Funds from the race will go to help support the women of Abba House and provide scholarships for their children to attend summer camp programs at the Y.

Anyone interested in participating in the races, which will all begin at Vickery Village in west Forsyth, can register at www.abbahouse.com through 7 p.m. Thursday.

Besides the runs, families can also enjoy a new family festival with live bands, food and children’s activities.

“Even if you are not a runner or walker, bring the family and join the free festival fun that will be going on from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.,” James said.

A number of prizes will be given during the event’s awards ceremony, which will go on during the family festival.
